Every
morning when we wake up, our eyes would often be the first to thing that opens
to see the world. Therefore, eyes are an important part of us that needs to be
well taken care of as much as our body. It is an organ of vision that plays a main
crucial part in our daily life. Today, I will share with you food that is good
in maintaining our eyesight.
Carrots
You
have probably heard that during lunch or dinner times your mom always asks you
to eat carrots as it good for your eyes. It is true! This is because carrots
have B-carotene vitamin A type that will boost the condition of your eyes.
Vitamin A also helps protect the surface of the eyes which is the cornea.
Fatty fish
Eat
a lot of fatty fish! Fatty fish are rich in DHA omega-3 fatty acids that can
prevent inflammation to our eyes. When fatty acid is at a low level in your
retina, this can lead to having dry eyes. Omega-3 fatty acid also helps in maintaining
your heart rate and brain function. Fatty fish such as tuna and halibut are
good source of protein for you to consume. However, higher level of omega-3
could be found in sardines, salmon and herring fish.
Tomatoes
Do
you know why tomatoes are red? This is because tomatoes are full with carotenoids
that helps form the vibrant red colour it has and serves in protecting our
eyesight. Besides that, tomatoes are also good for maintaining a good level of
our vision because contains vitamic C. Lycoprene can be found in tomatoes that
presents in ocular tissues which is beneficial to the retina in order to
prevent light-induced.
Sweet Potatoes
Lack
of vitamin A can damage your normal vision. Therefore, sweet potatoes are one
of the food which is highly suggested for you to consume. Sweet potatoes are
packed with vitamin A which helps to decrease the progression of age-related
macular degeneration. Other than vitamin A, sweet potatoes also contains
antioxidants, vitamin E and C that helps repairs cell damage caused by UV
exposure and also supports your eyes condition to a better level.
Here

spend too much time staring at the laptop by taking frequent breaks to not
strain your eyes.

read books in the dark.

proper lighting
So
now you have the knowledge about the few examples of food that are good for
your eyes. Let’s go to grocery store and stock them up! Some people may take
for granted the health of their eyes but actually it is the main part that
needs to be cared for.
