Tonight I just want to share with you all one of my favorite surah in Al-Quran which is surah Ad-Dhuha. I got this from one of my housemate, she send it in whatsapp. It just like you know 'timing kena' when she sent it. Because at that time I am so stressed out, frustrated, devastated and feeling down.
-
Surah Ad-Dhuha was revealed to the Prophet (saw) to relieve him of these negative feelings and to give him hope, positivity, and the assurance that Allah is with him no matter what. From it we too can find peace, hope, and a renewed faith in Allah when we go through similar states of depression, sadness, and hopelessness.
So what does this surah say?
Wad duhaa — By the morning brightness
This is the first thing you need to hear when you’re depressed: Wake up, look at the sunshine! Everything in life is not doom and gloom– you just have to look up!
Wal laili iza sajaa — And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,
Why is this aayah immediately talking about darkness? As a reminder to us that the night is meant to cover and give us comfort and rest.
Generally when we’re depressed, we tend to get into a very bad sleep pattern by staying up at night and sleeping all day, thereby worsening our state of mind. Thisaayah reminds us to use the night as a comfort to ease our distress.
Ma wad da’aka rabbuka wa ma qalaa — Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].
This is a very powerful verse from Allah telling us that He doesn’t hate us and hasn’t forgotten us– reminding the depressed person that He is always by his or her side!
Walal-aakhiratu khairul laka minal-oola — And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
Many times when we’re depressed we think: Is this all my life is going to be? Is it never going to get better?
This aayah serves as a perfect answer to those questions, reminding us that life in this world is temporary and that Aakhirais certainly a better, more permanent place for us than this world could ever be.
This makes us look forward to attaining our place in Jannah and helps us look at any problems in our lives as temporary tests of our faith from Allah.
Wa la sawfa y’uteeka rabbuka fatarda — And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
A promise from Allah that very soon he will give us a massive reward (Jannah) and we will be happy! Subhanallah!
Isn’t this the best thing to hear when you’re depressed and fed up with this worldly life and the problems you’re facing?
Alam ya jidka yateeman fa aawaa – Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
From this verse onwards, Allah gives us reason to believe His declarations and promises in the first half of the surah.
Now many of us may think: how would this aayah about orphans relate to the majority of us?Think about it– weren’t there many times in your life when you were sick or lonely and felt like you had nobody who cared about you? Who was the only one by your side at that time? Allah! It was He who took care of you and guided you out of that stage in life.
Wa wa jadaka daal lan fahada — And He found you lost and guided [you].
How many of us, despite being born Muslims, have found ourselves misguided and straying away from Islam in the past? It was Allah who gave us thathidaya and brought us back to the straight path and to Him and made us practicing Muslims. Alhamdulillah!
Wa wa jadaka ‘aa-ilan fa aghnaa — And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
Many of us have probably gone through many periods in our lives when we have been short of money and wealth. Now when we look back we realize that it was only Allah who gave us thatrizq in some form and got us through those tough financial times.
When a person is depressed, giving him or her examples of how Allah has helped them in the past will strengthen their conviction and belief in the promises Allah makes in thissurah for their future.
Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar — So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
This aayah is the ultimate antidote to depression!
Depressed people are mostly consumed with their situation and feel that nobody could possibly be in a worse situation.
This aayah reminds us to look at people who are in far worse situations than ourselves when we’re feeling hopeless and depressed— Look at the orphans, who have no family or loved ones and nobody to care for them. We have families and parents who love us, a roof over our heads and food on the table and we still think we’re in a bad situation?Subhanallah!
Wa am mas saa-ila fala tanhar — And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].
Another example is of the beggar – to once again remind us of the many material blessings that Allah has given us that we take for granted – food, clothing and shelter. How many of us have ever gone to sleep hungry? How many of us don’t have clothes to wear? Or don’t have a home to go to?
These examples of the orphan and the beggar are ones we should constantly remind ourselves of to be thankful for the numerous blessings Allah has given us, get over our depression and feel connected to Allah again, out of gratitude.
Wa amma bi ne’mati rabbika fahad dith – But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
This final aayah is about maintaining that renewed faith and bond with Allah – by pondering, glorifying and talking about the blessings of Allah! Either in terms of halaqas, discussions with family and friends or even da’wah! Dhikr, reading quran and listening to lectures are also great ways to keep the remembrance of Allah close to your heart!
So the next time you feel disconnected, disheartened or depressed with your level of Imaan and your connection with Allah – read Surah Ad Duha and ponder over its meanings – Inshallah it will restore your faith and increase your belief in the greatness and power of Allah.
-
After I read this surah with its meaning I find peace and feel really calm. A feeling that Allah is with me wherever I go. Since then, I will always read this surah in my solat(solah). So, whenever my dear readers, feel down or sad read this surah with its meaning. You will find the calmness that you never ever feel. Betul lah along kata, bila kita baca ayat Al-Quran tapi tak tau makna kita susah nak faham apa yang Allah nak sampaikan kat kita.
Credit to my housemate, Iman Awatif. At that time she sent it in whatsapp group, but I know she directed it to me dengan cara tersirat because she know I really need it. Thank you Iman.
Being a
plus-sized woman does not make you less beautiful than normal-sized
ladies out there. However, sometimes it can be a daunting task to dress
well when you’re extra curvy. All it takes is a little know-how fashion
knowledge and a dose of confident to look fabulous. Here are some tips
to dress well when you have a plus-size figure.
1.Play with Your Body Shape

Enhance
your silhouette with the right clothes if you have a rectangular figure
so that you can flaunt your curves nicely to others. If you have that
hourglass curve, then you want to show it off! Meanwhile for pear shaped
ladies, choose clothing that can proportionately balance out your
figure.
2. The Basic Tricks
The
patterns and cuttings of your outfit can draw attention from people
towards your figure. Small patterns will make you look smaller while big
printed patterns will make you appear bigger than you actually are. If
you want stripes outfits, go for vertical or diagonal stripes and avoid
horizontal stripes. Not only that, don’t wear clothing that is too
tight. It will make you look even bigger.
3.Colours
Everyone
knows that wearing black colours have a slimming effect and this trick
should be taken advantage of. The important tip for plus sized woman is
focus dark colours to hide certain areas whereas light colour is to
highlight. For example, if you like your waist, wear a light belt over a
dark shirt.
4.Power of Accessories
Accessories are more versatile to style compared to clothing. In addition it also helps to boost your confidence. Wear a big handbag
as it can make you look smaller. A plus-sized woman can pull off large
and bold jewellery while tiny earrings and pendants may get lost on you.
5.Get The Right Fit
Avoid
clothes that are too big for you to hide your figure because it shows
your lack of confidence. Emphasize your figure by wearing fitted of
figure hugging outfits that fit you well. Rely on colours, patterns and
embellishments to draw the eye away from your flaws.
Last
but not the least; accept your body as it is today. Whatever you put on
make sure you wear it with confidence. You are you for a reason and no
one can take that away from you. Your appearance means a lot more than
your size, so embrace yourself and always wear a smile.

Are you
a beginner when comes to make up? Makeup may do magical things that can
enhance your beauty and boost your confidence. It cannot be denied that
it can be a daunting task to do unless you can put your makeup on like a
pro. If you are one of those girls waiting to try something new, here
are some makeup tips for the beginners.
1.Complexion
Firstly,
you need to know about your skin complexion. What you want to cover up?
What colour shade of skin do you have? It is the first step you need to
know before choosing what makeup and moisturizer that will suit you.
2. Moisturize
The
less makeup you wear, the better it is for your skin. Apply some
moisturizer to your skin. It helps your skin from getting too oily
during the day and moisturizes any dry patches on your skin. Apply it by
putting a few spots on your fingers, then blend it and working the
spots outwards from the center in all directions.
3. Choose Your Shade
Choose
the right shade of your foundation so that it matches your skin tone.
You can brush a little on your jawline and if it blends in, it’s perfect
for you. If not, try looking for a lighter shade or darker. Finding the
right shade of foundation is very important as it evens out your skin
tone so you do not look splotchy.
4. Contouring
Contouring
will really brighten up all of your features. You can apply it with a
bronzer to make your face have a great glow. Not a pro at contouring? No
worries as there are plenty of Youtube makeup tutorials which you can
watch and learn.
5. Concealer
Concealer
should never be lighter than one shade away from your skin tone. Put a
little under the eyes where under-eye circles are darkest. Also add to
other blemishes which are not covered by foundation and blend it.
6. Eyeshadow
For
a beginner, you can try a single neutral shade. A natural palette is a
good option if you want to apply more than one eyeshadow colour. The
shadow should go from your lash line to just beyond the inner crease and
from there it fades upward toward the bone.
7. Blusher
Smile as you apply blush to the apple of your cheeks. So you can see clearly where the apples are.
8. Lipstick
Pucker you lips and apply your lipstick to the center of your upper and lower lip. Use the finger to blend outwards.
Check
your makeup whether it is all blended in beautifully or not. Then,
you’re done! Don’t over-do your makeup. Sometimes less is more. Go for a
neutral look and work your way to more makeup you wish. Be your own
kind of beautiful.

Nowadays there are almost millions of different shades of lipsticks that
make the lips an iconic beauty staple for women. However, we as women
find it daunting to choose the right colour of lipstick to match our
skin tone. Shopping for a right colour can be tricky and might be a bad
match for us. Here are some tips to choose the best lipstick for your
skin tone.
1. Identify Your Undertone
Undertone is
where you will hear the terms cool or warm. The easiest way is to look
at the color of the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins
appear bluish, this indicates that you have a cool skin tone. Meanwhile
if they appear greenish means you have a warm skin tone. If you’re
unsure of your skin undertones whether it is blue or green, you most
likely have a neutral skin tone and can choose from both spectrums.
2. Find a colour that is one to two shades deeper than your natural lip colour
Know which lipstick shade works best with your undertone. Apply the
lipstick to your lower lip and compare that shade to your upper lip. If
it is drastically different, then you need to keep searching for the
right shades.
3. Decide your lips shape
Take note of whether you want to maximize or minimize your lip shape.
Darker colours will actually make your lips look smaller while lighter
and brighter colours makes your lips appear bigger.
4. Pick based on your skin tone
Fair skin tone: Choose lighter shades for a soft complexion.
For cool undertones, you can try soft mocha and nude. Whereas, for warm
undertones, try pale pink.
Olive skin tone: This skin tone
is generally neutral. So any shade you wear you can’t go wrong. Mostly
nude, pink, orange and red shades are going to look good on you.
Medium skin tone: If you have cool undertones, try shades of pink or cranberry. But if you have warm undertones, try copper or bronze shades.
Darker skin tones:
Dark reds can make lips look gorgeous for darker complexion. For cool
undertones try ruby and wine-coloured hues. For warm undertones, try
copper and bronzes as it works as well.
So now you have the know-how to choose the right lipstick shade for you. Do you have a favorite lipstick?
Sometimes there is a time that we must get through ups and down. There is a time where we want to let go and give up everything without think of its consequences. There is also a time where we think we should stop doing what we are doing; holding on. But, do you know that maybe holding on a little longer is the right thing to do.
Why letting go when you have come this far?
The experiences, the struggles and the challenges that we are going through are there for us to make us a better human being. We grow from our struggles. Dare to try and to feel it. It is within the struggles we will find our real selves.
If the thing you are holding on is worth it. Then, why should you give up?
We hold onto things because we trust that we can get through the hurt, betrayal or rejection. It will break you sometimes but nobody can protect you from that. And when it happens remember all the good memories and the bittersweet moments that you tasted as well as everything you learned. Tell yourself how wonderful it was to live and blessed with life.
The struggle we live through that gives meaning to life.
How incredibly boring our life would be if there are no struggles or challenges to get through. And when you pass the phase of your struggles that is when you feel you have accomplished something. Only then you feel grateful for what you have.
There is something for us waiting to be found.
It’s inside of you. Take time to explore what you believe. If we can overcome the obstacles presented to us, we will find the success within ourselves to create something worthwhile. Sometimes we feel like we have nothing left to hold on and there is where hope comes into light.
Hope is what makes people stronger; sometimes, it is something that people clings to.
For who needs it or should I say everyone needs it, keep your head up. Never give up. You’re one tough cookie.
Jadi
mengapa perlu katakan ‘Tidak’?
terima. Kesihatan tidak terjaga. Malahan, masa untuk bersama orang tersayang
juga berkurangan.
Disaat inilah perkataan ‘TIDAK’
memainkan peranan besar.
Tahu apa
yang perlu diutamakan terlebih dahulu. Utamakan kepentingan anda dahulu sebelum
mengutamakan kepentingan orang lain. Pastikan anda jelas dengan apa yang anda
inginkan.
4.Berikan pendapat anda
Tidak salah
jika anda ingin mengemukakan pendapat dan mengekspresikan perasaan anda. Anda
hormati keinginan diri anda dan menginginkan orang disekeliling anda
menghormati anda juga. Anda mengingatkan orang lain bahawa anda juga seseorang
yang mempunyai keperluan dan kesibukan sendiri.
5.Berhenti berfikir tentang orang lain
Berhenti
berfikir apa yang orang katakan tentang anda. Orang di sekeliling anda haruslah
sedar dan terima anda seadanya. Jangan berasa bersalah kerana anda mengutamakan
diri anda dahulu.
Adakah anda ‘people pleaser’?
I believe that everyone must have
someone they can depend on that is called friends. Friends are the most
valuable people in life after our family. Without friends, our life will be
boring and we will feel lonely. However, it is not an easy task as it seems to
keep our friendship long-lasting for years to come. Here are some secrets to share with everyone
what qualities we should have to maintain long-lasting friendship.
1.Loyalty
It is important to have friends
that will never leave you. Friend in need is a friend indeed. Once we know that
they will be there with you even how tough the situations are it will develop
trust. A strong bond will form as trust comes.
When it happens, a safe environment is created and both people will
start to open up to each other or share secrets.
2.Honesty
Honesty is important to
form a long-lasting friendship. You cannot expect a long-lasting friendship that
starts with lies. At the beginning of a friendship, you must be honest about
yourself that makes your friends know who you actually are. When your friends
need advices or some critics or comments from you, you as friends must be
honest with them as it will help them to avoid making a bad decision of their
life.
3.Understanding
One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to
understand and to be understood. – Seneca.
Friends should understand
each other. They are the one that knows about you even without you telling them
what is happening. They know what you think and why you do it. As well as when
to bring you up and never let you down. They understand you and they don’t judge
you. At the end of the day it will
improve your friendship.
4.Balance
Friendship is a two way
street not a one way road. It will never work if only one side makes the efforts.
It is a give and take process. You cannot keep giving and the other keep
receiving. Both parties need to put the same amount of efforts to make a long-lasting
friendship whether in listening, talking or doing favours. If there is no
balance in friendship eventually it will make you or the other party have a
strained feeling. Invest in people who
invest in you-the Alison Show.
5.Forgiving
Friends make mistakes
too. It is how you accept it. Sometimes you and your friends will have
difference in opinions and views which results in disagreements. We all had
indulged in so many fights with friends that eventually at the end of it all, we
will make back up. This is where forgiving is an important quality that will
make your friendship improve better than before. Forgive and forget. Don’t let
one mistake ruin a beautiful thing.
Don’t forget to thank your friends
who always stand by you and never let you go. Thank you friends!
Now it’s your turn. What others
qualities that you think can make friendship a lifelong bond?
